Gaby started playing clubs and festivals across the south in the early 80s. He spent years playing everywhere from the beach bars of Florida to The Bitter End in Greenwich Village in New York City.
His return to performing live in 2018 stems from a fountain of new material that continues to flow and find an audience. He is known for creating songs on the fly with just a few words contributed by the crowd.
His roots are in folk traditions that do more than entertain... they attempt to address the human condition in all its beauty and tragedy while holding up a mirror to the powerful when needed.
His 2021 album release under the name Charles Gaby (prior to discovering there is another Charles Gaby on streaming services) is titled Innerstate 55.
In 2018 he began a collaboration with Daniel Katsük that culminated in a group and album release in 2025 titled Monks of Symbiosis.
