EDOD Annual Vocations Retreat 2026
ANNUAL VOCATIONS RETREAT
"He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God."
— Ephesians 4:11–13
If you are currently discerning a call to ordained ministry in the Diocese of Dallas, you and your spouse (if married) are invited to attend the Annual Discernment Retreat hosted by the Commission on Ministry. Attendance by both you and your spouse is a required step in the ordination process.
Held at the Prothro Center at Lake Texoma, the retreat provides time for prayer, worship, study, fellowship, and guided reflection as participants seek God's call together. This intentional time away from the demands of daily life offers an opportunity to discern in community with fellow participants, diocesan leaders, and members of the Commission on Ministry.
Our conversations and reflections will be guided by Consider Your Calling by Gordon T. Smith, a thoughtful exploration of vocation, ministry, and faithful discernment. Through discussion, prayer, and shared experiences, participants will reflect on how God may be calling them to serve the Church and the world.
This retreat is offered by Bishop Price and hosted by the Commission on Ministry of the Diocese of Dallas. The retreat begins at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, and concludes following lunch on Tuesday, August 4.
