The Common Table is excited to introduce the Ale Star Dinner Series. These dinners will feature, honor and celebrate individuals and breweries that have helped make craft beer what it is today. It is a privilege to announce our first host, Garrett Oliver from Brooklyn Brewery.
Mr. Oliver began homebrewing in 1983, and in 1989 he became apprentice brewer at Manhattan Brewing Company. In 1993 he was named Brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery and has held that title ever since. In 2003 he wrote The Brewmasters Table: Discovering the Pleasures of Real Beer and Real Food. It is still universarlly considered THE final word regarding the pairing of food and beer.
In 2011 Garrett edited over 166 contributors, covering 1,100 subjects on The Oxford Companion to Beer. It is the most comprehensive book ever written on beer. The New York Times refered to it as a "mammoth undertaking ... encyclopedic in scope", and said the editor has "captured the blossoming of a global beer culture at a thriving moment". In 2014 Mr. Oliver won the James Beard Award for Outstanding Wine, Spirits or Beer Professional and has been nominted 5 additional times.
We are truly honored to have Garrett Oliver grace our doors and would like to invite you to join us for a rare opportunity to join a truly world-class champion of better beer for an intimate evening filled with outstanding food, phenomenal beer and a hell of a good time.
