Ida Red Presents BC & The Big Rig
For several years, Brandon Clark had a vision for a rock band. In 2015, he finally had a chance to make his visiona reality. The pieces were now in place and primed to unleash a style of rock and roll they jokingly dubbed"shred dirt"; a nod to the red dirt roots culture of Oklahoma along with guitar-driven rock and roll. BC & The BigRig is Brandon Clark on lead vocal/rhythm guitar, Sam Naifeh on lead guitar/vocal, Ryan McCall on lead guitar/vocal, Chris Bell on bass/vocal, and James Purdy on drums/vocal. They tour regularly and have shared the stagewith artists as diverse as Turnpike Troubadours, Blue Oyster Cult, and Reckless Kelly, and stages as diverse asBuffalo Chip multiple times in Sturgis, SD and Mile 0 Fest in Key West, FL.The latest offering from this Tulsa-based unit,Liars & Saints, was recorded at the heralded Blackbird Studios inNashville, TN. The album is a sheer display of cleverly crafted lyrics and marksman-level musicianship.“Weloved doing a destination recording,”Naifeh says.“There’s just something that happens when you’re away fromhome. There’s more of an urgency, realness, and finality to the process. We are pleased with the result.”Thatresult is fat grooves, introspective narratives, and an abundance of guitar-heavy roots rock. When you get down to it, we’re all liars and saints at points in our lives...we are heathens and healers, fools andfishermen, fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers; BC & The Big Rig have sonically represented and packagedthat up for us all to stick in our ears. There’s something for everyone on the new album. Put it on, turn it up.
