CONCERT WITH A CONSCIENCE
With the launch of Concert with a Conscience in 2011, this event has provided multiple individuals the opportunity to be involved with charitable work, while expanding to a national network of individuals and groups who are seeking opportunities to learn more about global charities and to volunteer. For 10 years, Concert with a Conscience has been hosting benefit concerts in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with the desire to raise awareness, promote service and benefit charitable organizations worldwide. Past shows have benefitted countries including Haiti, Nicaragua, and Uganda. At this year’s event we hope to raise awareness and enthusiasm for the 2022 Kontakt Volunteer Festival in Poland, that is facilitated by Proem.
Proem Ministries was founded in post-communist Poland in 1990, soon after the first free democratic elections in Poland took place. Proem has grown from serving 150 kids at the first camp in 1990 to 3,500 kids annually from Poland and Eastern Europe (Belarus, Lithuania, Ukraine) as well as from places as far away as Israel, Ireland, and Africa. Proem began with summer camps for children and teens that offered sports, crafts, outdoor adventure, alongside Biblical teaching and worship. Today, the ministry has expanded even more to include language camps as well as Christian education, church planting, and community outreach. Proem’s vision is to connect people to the hope and freedom found in Jesus, while bringing meaningful change in communities through the local church.
KONTAKT VOLUNTEER FESTIVAL
Kontakt is an annual event that takes place in Piotrkow, Poland, with participation of volunteers from the local community and abroad. The festival is organized by Proem Ministries and includes service projects, sports tournaments and live music concerts. During Kontakt, Over the past 12 years, more than 1,800 volunteers have served at the Kontakt Festival; traveling from Poland, USA, Northern Ireland, Belarus, Germany, China and Ukraine. Kontakt is a great opportunity for volunteers to participate in service projects and reshape reality for some of Poland’s most needy families. Proem’s desire to assist families in need, while also connecting them to the local church and engage each individual to be involved in outreach and to be connected to a body of believers.
RICHMOND ROAD BAND
Richmond Road is a group of local musicians and vocalists that formed in 2018 to travel to Poland to play shows for Proem Ministries. Members of the band have all been playing at Sunnybrook Christian Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and all have been involved with past Concert with a Conscience shows as well. While in Poland in 2018 and 2019, the band performed during week-long Proem Kontakt festivals. They plan to return in 2022 when (hopefully) the pandemic travel restrictions are lifted. Raising funds for the trip over the past 4 years by playing shows at local venues, the band has gained a strong local following and a reputation as an excellent cover band. Featuring songs from bands such as Boston, U2, Maroon 5, Chris Stapleton and Pink, and a catalog of over 150 popular songs from multiple music genres, they receive multiple invitations to play locally for various events in the community and around the state.
Jon is a singer and guitar player from Dayton, Ohio with a long history of taking bands to the Kontakt festival in Poland and providing leadership and coordination for multiple groups making the trip to perform. In 2019, Jon was in Poland without his own band, so he jumped in with the Richmond Road Band to perform the entire week. Friendships were formed and Jon will travel from Dayton to reunite with Richmond Road for this performance at the Dunkin Theatre to support awareness of the excellent work Proem is doing.
