Originating from Gainesville, drummer Dave Moore and guitarist Ben Rowell decided to put a band together in 1993. Initially thought of as merely a hobby, the band steadily made a name for themselves from college gigs to national tours and major sponsors. Differing from most college bands at the time, Big Sky never went the cover-band route and focused almost entirely on original compositions from the start.
