Grandmaster

Grandmaster is a nine-piece Austin-based ensemble blending funk, jazz fusion, soul, progressive pop, and psychedelic rock into what they call "ritualistic funk." Built around the fictional mythology of an intergalactic traveler known as the Grandmaster, the band's live performances feature a collective of musicians known as the "Zealots," who bring the Grandmaster's cosmic stories to life through rich harmonies, layered instrumentation, and high-energy performances. Drawing inspiration from artists like Steely Dan, Earth, Wind & Fire, and The Doobie Brothers, Grandmaster combines sophisticated songwriting with groove-driven arrangements and a distinctive theatrical identity. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2024 and produced by Nolan Potter, introduced audiences to their expansive sound, while the follow-up, Grandmaster II (2026), further showcased the band's ambitious blend of musicianship, storytelling, and infectious rhythm.
