GJC Big Band: Ellington Nutcracker Suite

$35 Tickets

Want to do something retro this holiday season? Like REALLY retro? Like "listening to Duke Ellington big band music" retro?  Join the Greenville Jazz Collective Big Band tradition of performing the complete original score of the Duke Ellington re-creation of the Tchaikovsky Nutcracker Suite...right here at Poe Mill Music!

Duke wrote this in 1959 and used all the tricks of his trade (including fanfares, tambourines, a bamboo whistle, and re-titling all the tunes!) to reinvent these familiar melodies into a hot-and-cool event!  The Greenville Jazz Collective Big Band will also play a few favorite pieces of jazz holiday music as the perfect wrapper for this suite! So it will definitely be a swinging, toe-tapping evening.

Concessions including beer, wine, hot chocolate and apple cider will be available for purchase.
