SPH is happy to welcome the matthew show back to our house for another wonderful show. He's got the whole band with him and special guest Theo Carracino who add his own flair to the proceedings. There will be a full bar for your enjoyment and we look forward to seeing you for this Sunday show!

Mixing metaphors is a way of life for Matthew Broyles, the matthew at the center of the matthew show. Bringing a lifetime of songcraft, poetry, and prose to bear on these uneasy coordinates in spacetime, he has crafted a musical shout into the void that resonates sonically and lyrically. Topical tunes like 'The Great Simplification' and 'Theme from texas ii' sizzle with shimmering rage, while plaintive tracks like 'We're All Gonna Die' and 'Ghost' lament personal and cultural turns that have shaped life as he and we know it. Gathering influences from progfathers and college rockers alike, the map is as broad as it is complex, yet the voice at its center remains distinct and consistent, a mostly reliable narrator walking you through the evidence, inviting you to make up your own mind after the last echoes die out.

'texas ii' is an album for our times, newly released in September 2025, and is his fourth album. Produced by the matthew show, mixed by Mark Randall at Blackstone Studio in Fort Worth, Texas, with cover art by Pete Rearden. A host of talented guests are on board, including Casey Hess, Jeremy Hull, Hilary Tipps, and Paul Shapera, among many others, painting a sonic palette that alternately soothes and erupts, a record that keeps you guessing all the way through.
