Mama's Broke is a powerful duo that deliver a compelling performance with heart and raw energy.  Although highly influenced by their Canadian roots, Lisa and Amy are based out of nowhere and everywhere.

Their two strong voices blend to create haunting harmonies, while they artfully juggle fiddle, banjo, guitar and mandolin, and incorporate traditional dance and foot percussion into their performance.  Their original -and often dark- compositions push the boundaries of tradition and the constraints of genre.  Drawing from old-time, Quebecois, blues, punk, celtic, balkan and doom metal, they create a soundscape that is both familiar and new.

Chris Acker: In a world full of tall tales and polished personas, Chris Acker stands out by telling the truth — or at least something close to it. With a songwriting style reminiscent of John Prine and Woody Guthrie, Acker captures the humor, heartbreak, and small absurdities of everyday life. His latest album, Famous Lunch (Gar Hole Records, 2024), is his best yet — featuring laid-back country rockers, raucous barroom stompers, and tender folk ballads that showcase his knack for vivid storytelling with just a handful of words.

Whether playing solo or with his band The Growing Boys, Acker’s music feels lived-in and unpretentious — the kind of songs that sound just as good by a fire in Louisiana as they do on a stage across the country.
