Mohawk presents Leila Sunier with Blush Fantasy and Zach Kursman on Friday, August 15th!

Lush arrangements, expansive dynamics, and introspective lyrics weave throughout Leila Sunier’s music. Dancing between folk, indie-pop, and alternative rock, she writes for the skeptics and the wallflowers.

Born in New York, Leila developed a love for production and songwriting in high school. She went on to study media writing and music business at the Frost School of Music. Following graduation, she released her surrealist debut EP, If Only To Bleed Out The White Noise, in 2020. Leila continued to blend genres on her sophomore release, Where Everything Is Perfect (2020). Aided by Alex Newport (City and Colour, At the Drive-In, Moaning), the project garnered support from the likes of NPR, Grimy Goods, Buzzbands LA, and PopMatters to name a few. That September, she participated in Echo Park Rising’s virtual festival as part of Songbird Sessions showcase. Having relocated to Austin, TX in 2022, Leila regularly plays out in her adopted city.

"Too Big For Right Now" is her third endeavor and first album. A compact exploration of genre, Sunier crafts together a project that investigates the personal against a backdrop of modern dystopia. Without pretense of answers, she continues to position herself as an observer, quick to find the irony, humor, and sadness in it all.
