Luicidal & BL'AST! with special guests It Hurts to Be Dead
Born from the streets and skate culture of Venice Beach, California, Luicidal carries on the original sound and attitude of the legendary Suicidal Tendencies era.
Formed in 2012 by original Suicidal Tendencies bassist Louiche Mayorga and former Suicidal drummer R.J. Herrera, Luicidal features musicians with deep roots in the classic Venice punk scene. Mayorga was a co-writer of some of Suicidal Tendencies' most iconic early songs, including "Institutionalized," "War Inside My Head," "Possessed to Skate," and "Join the Army."
Luicidal combines its own original material with the raw, aggressive punk, hardcore and crossover-thrash sound that made the early Venice scene legendary. Their albums include Luicidal and Born in Venice, while their live shows celebrate the music and culture that helped define skate punk and crossover in Southern California.
For fans of Suicidal Tendencies, D.R.I., Black Flag, crossover thrash and classic skate punk, Luicidal brings a genuine piece of the original Venice Beach punk scene to the stage.
BL'AST!: In the mid-90’s, in the cold, bleak north of Seattle, Washington two friends in their mid-20’s were being influenced by the Melvins’ behemoth dirge and Earth‘s mammoth brand of expansive, glacial, guitar based soundscapes. Greg Anderson and Stephen O’Malley, of Thorr’s Hammer and Burning Witch, would tread their own paths after the demise of those bands, only to be brought back together in Los Angeles in 1998. In a new city, at the dawn of a new decade, the two would form a new band (sunn O))) ) and launch Southern Lord Records with the vision of releasing these recordings of their works.
Over the years Southern Lord has the incredible honor of releasing albums from cult legendary bands: Electric Wizard, Sleep, Magma, Unsane, Darkest Hour, Grief, Saint Vitus, BL’AST!, Winter, Wolfbrigade, Poison Idea, Pelican as well as iconic, monumental artists: Dylan Carlson (Earth), Wino, Dave Grohl (Probot), Zakk Wylde (Zakk Sabbath), Josh Homme (Desert Sessions). We are extremely proud to have been a part of the developing rise of several bands who are now part of the essential fabric of the underground: Wolves In The Throne Room, Nails, Boris,Power Trip.
It is our mission to create a sanctuary for bands/artists/musicians to have their creative works released exactly as their vision was intended.
Tickets for this show will be $12 online in advance and $15 the day of the show at the door.
