Asian Glow
Asian Glow is a South Korean indie music project led by multi-instrumentalist and producer Shin Gyeongwon. Emerging from the online DIY scene, the project blends elements of emo, shoegaze, noise pop, and lo-fi experimentation into a sound that feels both chaotic and deeply intimate.
Asian Glow gained wider attention with the 2022 album Stalled Flutes, Means, a sprawling, emotionally raw record that resonated across indie circles for its unfiltered production and cathartic songwriting. The music often layers distorted guitars, blown-out drums, and hazy vocals, creating a dense, almost overwhelming atmosphere that mirrors themes of anxiety, isolation, and self-reflection.
Part of a loosely connected global network of online indie artists—including acts like Parannoul—Asian Glow represents a new wave of musicians who bypass traditional industry routes, instead cultivating dedicated audiences through platforms like Bandcamp and SoundCloud.
Despite the project’s relatively low public profile, Asian Glow has built a strong cult following, with listeners drawn to its emotional honesty and boundary-pushing sound.
