Rite of Spring & Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, Op.37 - ft. Stefano Brizzi, piano
The Garland Symphony Orchestra invites you to join us on May 8th at 7:30 pm at the Granville Arts Center for an incredible evening of music featuring Italian piano virtuoso, Stefano Brizzi. The concert’s program features Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, Brizzi’s heartfelt performance of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, Op.37, and Saint-Saëns’ Bacchanale from Samson et Dalila.
Premeired on May 29th, 1913 at Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes, Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring was met with instant backlash and a riot outside of the hall at the night of the premiere. The ballet was met with such surprise due to the uproarious nature of the dances and extreme experimentation in tonality, meter, rhythm, and dissonance in the music. This work is one of the most influential works of the 20th century in that it inspired much more experimentation into the musical unknown for decades to come. It remains one of Stravinsky’s greatest works.
Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring paired with Brizzi’s stunning interpretation of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, Op.37, and Saint-Saëns’ Bacchanale from Samson et Dalila is a perfect ending to our 2025-2026 season. We hope to see you there!
