What is the difference between a showrunner and a creator? Aren’t they the same person? Not exactly. The creator is the person who came up with the universe and characters of his or her show, usually writing the pilot episode. The showrunner acts more like the CEO of the production, overseeing the complete scale of the operation. How does it help or hurt the series to have the showrunner and the creator be the same person, versus two separate people? And if it is different people, how does the balance of power work?
