Joseph Austin II made his first film a documentary entitled, The Guise Effect in the spring of 2010 while attending Salisbury University. The Guise Effect examined the caricatures associated with African Americans in early and current American cinema. One stunning finding that Joseph realized; was that while opportunities for African Americans have become greater, some of the roles African Americans accept today are often caricature driven with racist undertones. Joseph earned his Bachelors of Arts in Media Production from Salisbury University in May 2010. Since his graduation from Salisbury University, Joseph has maintained a close tie to the Television and Film world. He was a freelance videographer, photographer and editor at the Washington DC CW affiliate DC50TV, where he's participated in two Local Emmy award winning programs, Direct Access with Big Tigger and " And The Dream Lives On" a documentary special that focused on the impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's iconic "I Have A Dream" speech made 50 years ago. Joseph recently completed his Master of Fine Arts in Filmmaking at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles. To date, Joseph has made well over ten short films and documentaries.
