Naeema Jamilah Torres

Director Bio
Naeema Jamilah Torres is an emerging filmmaker originally from New York City and currently based in the Chicago area. She is a recent graduate of Northwestern University's MFA in Documentary Media program where she produced her thesis documentary on the legacy of a slave revolt near New Orleans, Louisiana. For close to a decade, Naeema worked in TV and film distribution for home entertainment companies including Cinedigm and HBO. She currently works as a producer and does impact and outreach work for both short and feature-length documentaries. Naeema is interested in creating stories that capture the nuanced experiences of urban life, womanhood and complex ethnic identities in the Americas.
