Director Bio
Angelica “Angel” Weaver is a writer, filmmaker who writes drama-filled narratives with a comedic twist. Her storylines capture the nuance in narratives that are not often amplified. Her work aims to make topics that are often anxiety-ridden, accessible, and amusing. A sociologist-turned-storyteller, Angel approaches character development with a human-centered lens. She prides herself on creating three-dimensional characters, that provides a new level of understanding for audiences, despite cultural differences. In 2019, her short screenplay, “Love Emancipated” was selected as a top-10 finalist for the Shore Scripts Film Fund. Her screenplays have made her a finalist in several writing competitions and workshops including WeScreenPlay's Diverse Voices Lab, Screencrafts Sci-Fi Screenwriting competition, and NY Film and TV Collective's rising writers lab, and received recommend ratings from script coverage services such as CoverFly. Her debut Short Film, The Call is set to make its festival run in 2019 and is an official selection of the DC Black Film Fest. Angel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from UC Berkeley with a focus in Film. She's currently a student at NYU's extension program for TV writers.
