Director Bio
Eden Marryshow (Bruce) is a native of Flatbush, Brooklyn. For over a decade, Eden served NYC’s Department of Education where he taught at risk youth with patience and compassion. Eden embraced his position as a father figure and role model to some of NYC’s most marginalized youth. He felt his most important responsibility was share his Big Dream with his students, to encourage them to Dream Big, no matter how silly it sounds... and of course: to say it out loud. Latina "Peanut" Bilbro, one of his most beloved students, would always tell him that she believed in him -- she knew he was going to make movies someday. While driving to work on June 22nd 2006, Eden received a call that Peanut was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting. He finally realized how short life is and decided to keep his promise to his beloved Peanut, it was time to follow his dream... and to prove her right. He hasn’t looked back since. Some of Eden’s acting credits include: Jessica Jones (Netflix), The Normal Heart (HBO), Full Circle (ABFF), First Dates (ABFF), White Girl (Sundance Film Festival), Tallulah (Sundance Film Festival), The Black List (NBC), Forever (ABC), Nurse Jackie (ShowTime), Unforgettable (CBS), Secret, and Bodega. Dream Big, Go Hard! Let's Get It! I Love You, Peanut.
Gene Pope (Bruce's Dad)
Pope 3 Enterprises LLC was formed in 2007 by Generoso Pope III (Gene Pope) to expand his previous decades of creative experience into film and stage production. Gene’s first career in 1970 began immediately out of college as a recording engineer working for Brunswick Records in Chicago with engineer Bruce Swedien (The Chi-Lites, Tyrone Davis, Jackie Wilson and Quincy Jones among many others). After moving to New York, in a bid to expand his creative horizons to film, he became a TV Producer at Doyle Dane Bernbach Advertising in 1974 and eventually was put in charge of bi-coastal production for such top clients as American Airlines, Volkswagon and Atari, becoming known for his special effects acumen on large million-dollar projects. He then spent 9 years becoming a Commercial and Film Director, during which time he won over 30 Gold Awards at U.S. film festivals. In 1985, he won the Grand Award for Best Director at the New York International Film Festival for a ground breaking short film “The Mad Ave Wizard”. He travelled to Russia in 1986 (during the communist regime) to write and direct a half-hour documentary about the Moscow Circus, which aired in major markets to promote the group’s first United States tour. In the 1990’s, Gene went back to his music roots and created the world-wide distributed record label PopeMusic Inc., whose ground breaking digital recordings the New York Times reviewed as “…The finest in the world…” With this varied background Pope decided to return to film production as well as acting. In preparation, he attended the 2-year Acting Conservatory Program at the Maggie Flannigan Studios in NYC and continues his studies today. Since graduating in 2013, Gene produced several short films, including “Hand Over Hand”, winner of the Best Short Film Award at the 2015 Milan Filmmakers International Festival and “Bada Bing, Bada Boom”, which won Best Comedy at the Williamsburg Film Festival. He was also nominated as Best Lead Actor - Short Film at both Milan FFI and at Southampton IFF in 2015. Pope 3 Enterprises LLC represents all of Gene’s experience in maintaining the highest quality in filmmaking, while still ensuring movies that are compelling and provocative.
