The Dallas Film Society is thrilled to honor three-time Academy Award@ winner Robert Benton at The Art of Film occurring Wednesday, March 29 at sixtyfivehundred. This year, The Art of Film serves as the precursor to the 2017 Dallas International Film Festival (March 30 - April 9) and there's no doubt this signature event will kick-off Dallas' largest celebration of film with a bang. We invite you to join us in welcoming this legend as we present him with the Dallas Star Award.
A native Texan. born in Waxahachie, and veteran, Benton's first full screenplay (written with David Newman) was the 1967 classic BONNIE & CLYDE. That success led to writing the scripts for WHAT'S UP DOC, the Christopher Reeve classic SUPERMAN, and KRAMER VS. KRAMER - for which he won Oscars' for Best Director and Best Screenplay. He earned a 3rd Oscar for his screenplay for PLACES IN THE HEART filmed in and around Dallas and Waxahachie.
