Psychotic Reaction is a Heavy Psych, Punk, Grunge, Stoner Rock, High Energy Rock and Roll band from Norman, Oklahoma. Est. in 2006. Taking the name from 60’s garage rockers, The Count Five’s single, the group felt it best described their sound. The band has been heavily influenced by The Stooges, MC5, Radio Birdman, The Hellacopters, 13th Floor Elevators, The Yardbirds, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, early country and blues music, H.P. Lovecraft, George Orwell and Lucid Dreams to name a few from long list of inspiration.
The band has had almost 20 different members, with Robert Layton III and Nolan Dacus as the core founding members and main song writers.
They have been continuously touring North America since 2016. Their mind melting brand of high energy psychedelic punk and intense live performances have become a staple in Oklahoma and their regional music scene.
In 2024 the band is releasing their 6th album “Island of Light” on 12” limited run colored vinyl from Wet Records on April 28th. Their 7th album “Dystopian Anthems for Lotus Eaters” will be released on limited run 12” colored vinyl from Savage Magic Records this summer. The group plans to tour the west coast in October. In April ‘24 the group will starting recording what will become the bands 8th studio full length album.
