Votive Album Release Show
Mohawk presents Votive's album release show with Shoganai, Clairvoyance, and A Letter To Autumn on Thursday, April 2nd!
Austin, TX’s Votive deliver a unique variety of heavy music, drawing influence from screamo, black metal, crust, and grind. The band features DIY veterans Eli Deitz (drums, Porcelain), Rohan Lilauwala (guitar, Respire), Blake Given (bass, ex-Portrayal of Guilt) and Kyle Rotta (vocals, ex-Gas Up Yr Hearse!). Since 2021, they have together sculpted a sound that is at once cathartic, caustic, and crushing.
Following critical acclaim for their debut LP, 2024’s Towards the Pillory, their latest offering finds the band at their most unrelenting yet. An Infinite Capacity for Joy features nine blistering tracks built on a foundation of serrated riffs, convulsive, off-kilter rhythms that pulse and surge, and a gnawing, unbridled desperation punctuated by only brief moments of respite. Within this, Rotta delivers piercing meditations on forgiveness, self-improvement, and retribution, exploring the narrow border between existing and nothingness. Producer Phillip Odom (Militarie Gun, Glare, Portrayal of Guilt) deftly captures the band’s raw intensity, expanding jagged edges and intricate details into a massive, suffocating heaviness.
Votive’s “Theater of Cruelty” forces the listener to confront not just the terror of their own invisibility, but also the darkest, most infested parts of reality. An Infinite Capacity for Joy will be out March 13, 2026 on Persistent Vision Records and Dog Knights Productions.
