Belle and the Vertigo Waves with special guest Manta Rays
The songs on this EP I originally wrote when I was about 17. that's almost a decade ago. Why are we releasing them again? Because I had put that album out with no band. I chose the artist name "Belle & The Vertigo Waves" in hopes that I would one day find a band. Pretty much the biggest homeschooled, loner kid move. The album at the time was angsty, soft indie rock. Over the years, I got my band together. My dad (John), my boyfriend at the time (Jeremiah - husband now), one of his besties (Zach) and you know... just some drummer. jk we love Elliott.
Our sound slowly evolved and got heavier. Everyone had found their own place in the music we were making putting pieces of our wildly different musical influences into one collaborative project like a weird ass potluck. From 90s grunge, 80s rock to modern pop… we made something that made us feel like a BAND.
So here we are, rock-ifying a bunch of sad girl songs, turning them into something that will make you speed down neighborhood roads to. oops.. sorry. These songs range from being about teenage breakups to experiencing death and grief for the first time. A decade later, I added some lyrical and melodic changes to give some new perspective to those stories along with the insane change my band made in composition and feel to the instrumentation.
