Join the GSO for evening of Foster, Copland, and Hindemith! This concert begins with A Stephen Foster Overture which features excerpts from some of the greatest music by Stephen Foster, “the father of American music”. Said overture is followed by Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, a unique work for speaker and orchestra in which a speaker narrates excerpts from Abraham Lincoln’s documents set to music. Paul Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis ends the concert in a virtuosic orchestral display that was written in the United States in 1943 and was written with American symphony orchestras in mind.
