Twice Grammy-nominated folksinger Eliza Gilkyson has just released Dark Ages on Realiza Records, an intimate, courageous portrayal of the current reality in the USA. As always, Eliza finds a musical pathway through the worst of times, focusing not only on the hard truths we face but, more importantly, honoring all that we hold dear, all that is worth fighting for.

The album is surprisingly upbeat, although the songs pull no punches in terms of the times we find ourselves in. Working in collaboration with Don Richmond, her producer/multi-instrumentalist for the last two records, and calling on some of her Austin compadres and fellow New Mexicans to accompany her, the album showcases Eliza in her strongest and most compelling voice, covering the wide range of human experience, following the threads of darkness and light, and reminding us of the hope and beauty still to be found even in the frightening scenarios of today’s current events.
