Giovanni Ventello - 10 - Giovanni Ventello is an indie-folk rocker from Lawrence, Kansas now based in New Orleans. As a Kansan, raised on Americana and the clever but simplistic lyrics of John Prine and Gillian Welch, Giovanni writes about the unremarkable, the monotonous, the mundane: A sock without a match and pile of old shoes become a vivid and vulnerable narrative about anxiety and autonomy. From lonesome acoustic ballads to roaring walls of distortion the music embellishes the story, carefully cradling the lyrics in gentle ambience and whining steel strings. Whether performing solo or alongside a spectacularly ragged rock band Giovanni's songs are destined to resonate with anyone who can find significance in the wearisome.
