Our final concert of the season features piano virtuoso, Sean Kennard, performing Samuel Barber’s Piano Concerto alongside Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World”. Written in 1893 while Antonín Dvořák was director of the National Conservatory of Music of America, the music in this symphony is inspired by American folk music, particularly African American spirituals and Native American music, and the vast “wide open spaces” of our country. This symphony is one of the most popular symphonies of all time.
