World Famous Pets
Rooted in sonic exploration and an improvisational spirit, World Famous Pets approaches music as something fluid and responsive rather than fixed or pre-determined. Their process prioritizes instinct, interaction, and texture, allowing rhythm and harmony to shift shape in real time—each track unfolding as an open system where form is discovered rather than imposed. The new band emerges from a creative collaboration between Grammy Award–winning singer, songwriter, and musician Edie
Brickell and drummer/producer Matt Chamberlain, expanding into a fully realized quartet with Kaveh Rastegar on bass and Mason Stoops on guitar.
“Matt is one of those rare people in life whose connection to you never fades. Years go by, and it’s as if no time has passed, and you pick up where you left off. As musicians, I’ve witnessed the evolution of his playing in awe of his talent and skill. His experiment to bring Kaveh and Mason to play in the studio with us for 6 days turned out to be a free flowing fountain of song after song,” Brickell shares of the collaboration, “They are all monster players who improvise in song form, changing tones and feel as we go along. We listen to each other and roll together like a river of music, not knowing what’s around the bend but tuned into the same current. We all felt it and just went with it, so fun, so astonishing, and
productive.”
Edie Brickell and Matt Chamberlain were both teenagers in bands in the Deep Ellum music scene. They played, recorded and toured the world together in New Bohemians until Edie stopped to have a family.
