Through her music, Sara has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for non-profits including Habitat for Humanity, SAFE, SPCA, Terrewode, House the Homeless, Sanford Community Center, Amnesty International, Hill Country Youth Ranch and many others.
Sara has acted on film and stage, sings on national commercials (including 14 years with Popeye’s), and licenses/distributes her own music catalogue. She teaches classes on songwriting, creativity, and the music industry, and enjoys being an inspirational speaker.
Sara grew up in Houston with visual artists for parents (a weaver and a painter), which led her to a BA from the University of North Texas in painting. As a teenager, Sara began performing music for youth in psych units which led to her becoming a music and art therapist, receiving a lifetime achievement award from The National Association of Music Therapists.
In 2016, Sara volunteered to be executive director and restore a historic building formerly known as the Palacios Colored School (Palacios, Tx), built in 1928 during segregation. Sara led a team effort, turning the school into The Sanford Community Center.
Since 2019, Sara has donated over $70,000 from the sales of her Texas Musicians Coloring Book (Volume 1), which took two years to hand draw. She is also the booking agent for a yearly family music festival called MossFest (inside the ABC Kite Festival at Zilker Park), loves her dog, Twig, has a 197 in bowling and is proud mom to two amazing kids.
