The Beauty of the Piano, ft. Alice Burla
The Garland Symphony Orchestra invites you to join us on March 13th at 7:30 pm at the Granville Arts Center for a hypnotizing performance of Frédéric Chopin’s Andante Spianato & Grand Polonaise Brillante, Op. 22 by virtuoso pianist, Alice Burla.
Written between 1830 and 1836, Chopin’s Andante Spianato & Grand Polonaise Brillante begins with the lullaby-esque Andante Spianato. Spianato translates to “evenly, without contrasts, without any great agitation or anxiety” and puts the listener in the world of a harmonious moonlit night. It is not until the horns announcing the Polonaise that the listener is released from their trance. From there, the Polonaise combines soaring flight with spirit and elegance that dazzles until the end. Full of excitement and tranquility, the entire piece offers a feast for the ears for everyone in the audience.
The rest of the program features Mendelssohn’s Tales of the Beautiful Melusine, Op. 32, Fauré’s Pavane, Op. 50, and Mozart’s Symphony No. 39 in Eb Major, K.543.
