Los TexManiacs and Rick Trevino: 9pm
On April 10th, a long-standing tradition continues at Gruene Hall as Rick Trevino joins Los Texmaniacs for a night of Tex-Mex and Country. For years, this stage was home to collaborations between the band and icons Flaco Jiménez and Auggie Meyers. The last time the legends joined the band at this historic venue in the spring of 2024, they were celebrating their birthdays—marking one of their last appearances together. Both were among the performers to enter through the "Willie Door," and Trevino now slips through that same door to join Max Baca and the band to lead the next generation of this crossover sound. Their musical connection was cemented when Trevino and Max served as core members of the Grammy-winning Los Super Seven.
Founded by Max Baca, Los Texmaniacs continue to evolve the marriage of rock and conjunto pioneered by Flaco and the Texas Tornados. This progression defines the band’s "Old Roots, New Boots" sound—honoring the foundation laid by legends while Max pushes the music forward. For decades, Max served as the premier bajo sexto player for Jiménez and performed as a sideman with the Tornados. Today, he remains the torchbearer of that legacy, blending traditional Tex-Mex with soulful R&B and blues. Honored by his 2024 induction into the Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame, Max and his nephew, accordion virtuoso Josh Baca, represent the high-energy sound of Texas. As they prepare for a new release on WorldHaus Music in early 2026, the band and crew look forward to keeping the Gruene Hall after-party going in honor of the pioneers who came before them.
