The Epilepsy Association of Western New York will host a special community screening of the film Under the Lights on August 30, 2026, at Electric City in Buffalo, bringing together individuals, families, advocates, and community partners for an evening focused on epilepsy awareness, education, and lived experience.

The event will feature the independent film Under the Lights, a powerful coming-of-age story about a teenager living with epilepsy as he navigates identity, relationships, and the desire to feel “normal” during one pivotal night. The film highlights the realities of epilepsy, including photosensitive triggers such as flashing lights, while emphasizing dignity, inclusion, and understanding.

Following the screening, filmmaker Miles Levin will participate in a live question-and-answer session with attendees. Levin will discuss the inspiration behind the film, the importance of authentic representation of epilepsy in media, and the role storytelling plays in reducing stigma and increasing public awareness. Audience members will have the opportunity to engage directly through questions and discussion.

The Epilepsy Association of WNY continues to prioritize community-based education and outreach initiatives that elevate the voices of individuals and families impacted by epilepsy. Events such as this screening provide meaningful opportunities to foster dialogue, strengthen understanding, and build supportive connections throughout Western New York.

The evening at Electric City will conclude with closing remarks and appreciation for attendees, partners, and supporters who continue to advance epilepsy awareness and advocacy across the region.
