THE OLD QUARTER IS A LISTENING ROOM. LOUD CONVERSATION DURING ARTIST'S PERFORMANCE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS WHEN PURCHASING TICKETS TO SHOWS.

The Resonant Rogues is an Americana / alt-folk / roots duo (sometimes quartet) from Western North Carolina, led by songwriting partners Sparrow (vocals, banjo, accordion) and Keith Josiah Smith (guitar). They are married, and their music, lives, and touring are deeply entwined.

Before forming the band, both Sparrow and Keith led itinerant lives:
• Keith spent years hopping freight trains, busking, traveling.
• Sparrow likewise traveled, performed with a circus troupe, and has a background in performance arts (dance, figure skating, etc.). They met in Asheville, NC (circa 2012–2013) and founded The Resonant Rogues in spring 2013. Their sound blends Appalachian old-time, classic country, vintage soul, folk, and folk-adjacent traditions. They also draw from wide, global influences, as well as from the road and their life experiences. Sparrow & Keith now live in Western North Carolina, on land they hope to never leave—this homesteading setting influences their sense of place and music. They continue to tour regularly, busk, play festivals, and build connections with their audience through both performance and presence.
