John Bush

Drums & Percussion

John Bush

Drums & Percussion

John Bush is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in drums and percussion.

Besides being an original member of the platinum-selling band Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, Bush has recorded and performed with many national and regional acts. A few of the artists include Ian McLagan, Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, Critters Buggin, Ruthie Foster, McLemore Ave, The Drakes, Pike & Sutton, The Small Stars featuring Miles Zuniga of Fastball, Patrice Pike and Texas Music Hall of Fame Inductees Greezy Wheels.

Bush is also a songwriter and has released four CDs of original music. Three under the band name Foamy and most recently as The John Bush Band.

Bush also works out of his studio Cicada Moon Studios in Austin, Texas. He has recorded and produced many Texas greats including David Garza, Matt Hubbard, Redd Volkart, Bubba Hernandez, Paula Nelson, Kem Watts, The Reveleros, and Beth Lee & The Breakups just to name a few. Most recently Bush and fellow Bohemian bandmate Matt Hubbard co-produced international songwriter Siobhán O’Brien.

After a too long hiatus, the John Bush Band has reurned to the stage and is coming to Dallas.

On Friday, April 10th, the original Edie Brickell and New Bohemians percussionist will be celebrating his birhday(!) by bringing his all-star Austin band to Dallas' legendary Poor David's Pub.

They will be joined by Landis Armstrong & The Meagles and a number of very special guests.

The "Newbos" of course double-billed with the likes of Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead, played all the major television shows, and toured the world, often in major arenas.

Now John is taking on the world with his own band, with his own music, and a soul that bares it all every time he takes the stage.

John is now in the midst of preparations for a new solo album release for 2026, one that very well could be a double LP. Already an owner of gold and platinum records, John has become a prolific songsmith, and his band always brings it. The John Bush Band shows are legendary for their incendiary energy. The new album will showcase that energy to the fullest, with as many as two dozen songs.

And now he's writing books!

John's first novel, 'Queen Daffodil's Demise,' is currently being shopped for a movie and/or streaming production deal by a major west coast agent, and he's already deep into both a followup novel and several other literary projects. On top of that, he has nearly finished the audio version of

'Queen Daffodil's Demise,' with his own narration. John Bush has many stories to tell.

He's telling them in both song and verse.
